Having a healthy breakfast is the key to getting a good start to your day. It not only replenishes your nutrients early in the morning, but also increases your levels of energy and alertness to give you a pep in your step to get through the day ahead. Having only plain oats, or cereal, or eggs every morning can get boring. Spice up your morning routine and add fresh shelled pecans to your oats to give them a fun, tasty, and nutritious twist.
If you didn’t know, pecans are drupe seeds that have a thin shell, making them a choice nut to crack and eat. Fresh shelled pecans are enjoyed all across the world after they are cultivated and exported from the southern parts of North America such as Mexico, Georgia, and Texas. Pecans are really easy to shell and are a loved delicacy due to their smooth, buttery taste and rugged texture. That’s what makes them such a great addition to your morning breakfast.
Pecans, as we’ve mentioned several times, are also very healthy. They have flavonoids, and antioxidants, that are super good for your heart. The zinc and magnesium present in pecans can help increase the hemoglobin in your body. And lastly, pecans have over 13 different types of vitamins and are rich in fiber! Even just a handful of pecans after every meal can act as an additional nutritional supplement.
What’s so great about pecans is that they have a mild flavor that can be combined into several different recipes to give it a fun nutty twist without being too over powering. For those with a sweet tooth, add pecan pieces to your fudge or cakes or pecan pralines, chocolate-covered pecans, and glazed pecans are some easy to make (and tasty to eat) pecans. If you’re looking for a more savory flavor, you can try our roasted salted pecans or sweet and spicy pecans.
So, as we mentioned, adding pecans to your breakfast is (in our opinion) a great idea! Here is an easy pecan recipe for breakfast that you can whip up in 5 minutes and satisfy not only your hunger but also your taste buds.
